2022 Durga Pujo seems more special! It is after the wait of two long years. This year some of the familiar puja associations of Bangalore are missing, however many new ones have sprung up, most of them in the huge apartment complexes. I am glad the charm and thrill of pandal hopping in Durga Puja is back. Here are 10 popular Durga Puja Pandal in Bangalore that I visited in last three days.
While in Kolkata pujo pandals have themes which attract huge crowds and attention, Bangalore pandals pales in comparison. The various associations involved focus more on the idols, puja and the variety entertainments held.

Most beautiful Durga idol in Bangalore 2022 is at Sarathi socio cultural trust. The bright red statue seated on a lotus, with the statue of lion and Mahisasur at Her feet looked glorious! I clicked this on sixth day, shoshti, when they had just unloaded the idol from truck.

They make efforts to get music bands from West Bengal that hold the audience enthralled. Some of the music bands charge as high as Rs 65,000-Rs 120,000 for one performance, if one were to go by previous records.
Food stalls that sprout up for the four days of Pujo are another attraction to the pandals both for bengalis and the locals alike.
Pandals, a temporary structure set up to usually venerate the god and goddess. Most associations fdon’t focus on this, instead they work on the idol decorations. Very few of the Bengali associations of Bengaluru have put some efforts to put up thematic pandals this year.

The Bengali Association on Assaye Road has themed the decorations on Village life of Bengal – Amar Bangla, Gram Bangla. The paintings have the influence of Jamini Roy art, and the subjects are Gods, Goddesses and rural themes. I just loved the beautiful art work of the pandal interior. They have used gamcha and laal par sari.

There are informative pictures of historic landmarks of Kolkata. Pandal artist Suraj Bhattacharaya created the wonder with his team of artists from Kolkata in just 55 days.
In the year 2019 too he had done the pandal decoration in Oikotan Association. The theme was based on Chau dances then. This year they have themed the pandal on cultural richness of Kolkata, naming it Phire Dekho Kolkata.
