Durga Puja Pandal Themes and Venues in Bangalore
Kolkata’s Durga Puja pandal themes are unique. Comparatively Bangalore has lesser number of pandals, nevertheless the organizers here have come up with different themes for decorating pandals and idols of Goddess Durga.
While the low budget ones have simple décor, some old established and better funded Bengali associations of Bangalore have come up with unique themes for pandal decorations.
Durga Puja Pandal Themes of Bangalore
Jagriti Bangiyo Cultural Association
Among the ones that I saw in Bangalore, Jagriti Bangiyo Cultural Association JBCA has presented a brilliant theme and message through their Durga Puja pandal. The entrance and ceiling is decorated with puppets from Rajasthan, board games, bats, balls and kites! It was like entering a child’s world!
She is seated on a huge box filled with toys. The message is clear; it is NO to electronic gadgets. Adults should seriously de-addict their kids from electronic gadgets and reintroduce our old toys like board games, puppets and kites.
Jayamahal Sarbajanin Durga Puja
Jayamahal Sarbajanin Durga Puja as usual has come up with an exciting pandal set up. It is like a dinosaur world there! A huge green dinosaur welcomes you!
People willingly walked in to its tummy to explore the interiors which a very dramatic set up with low light and several models of dinosaurs. Needless to say even the adults were equally excited! Maa Durga and her children were decorated with flowers.
Oikotan Bengali Association
Oikotan this year has the theme of rural Bengal and Chhau, a traditional dance form. The pandal is decorated as a thatched village house. The walls are studded with colorful masks with warrior faces.
Socio Cultural Association Indiranagar
A modest and simple setup of idols with a frame of temple mantapa and temple pillars which seemed to replicate the granite pillars of south Indian temples! Idol decorations were done with white paper cuttings and sholapith art, made from tender stem of Shola tree.
Location: Bhoomi Reddy Colony Tippasandra Shishu Griha school
RT Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Samiti
Maa Durga and her children were decorated in white, yellow and gold theme. The complete structure is of clay. I witnessed the Maha Saptami pujo and anjali here. It is a very compact place with food stalls, stage for variety entertainment and murti sthapan (place for idols) all under one roof.
Poorva Bangalore Cultural Association
Bengaluru Durga Puja Committee
Location: Manpho Convention Center, near Manyata Tech Park
