Road Trip through Top Tourist Attractions of Portugal
We are on the second phase of or travel. All thrilled and excited that we crossed from Spain to Portugal we looked forward to rest of the travel through top tourist attractions of Portugal.
Road Trip Evora to Lisbon Day 6
The morning was well spent doing the walking tours in Evora. The highlight of the day was visit to Bone Cathedral in Evora. From Evora we drove to Lisbon, where everything was going as per plan. During the walks my husband got pickpocketed; somebody flicked his wallet. There will be a more detailed post on this later.
Self Guided Tour of Lisbon Day – 7
We continued our tour of Lisbon. It is a beautiful city otherwise. We visited the resting place of Vasco da Gama.
Day Trip from Lisbon Day – 8
We left for Sintra, The Pena Palace here is colorfully mesmerizing! The remaining half of the day was spent visiting smaller towns like Alcobaca, Batlaha and finally we halted at Tomar.
Road Trip from Tomar to Braga Day 9
The morning of Tomar was spent in the monastery and cathedral there, a 11th century HUGE building. From Tomar we drove to Coimbra, which has the oldest university of Portugal. The library was mighty impressive with its huge collection of old books. At evening we were in Porto.
Braga to Salamanca in Spain Day 10
I saw one of the most beautiful Bom Jesus Cathedral of Portugal in the outskirts of Braga. We ended our Portugal trip at Guimaraes, which has a beautiful castle, it is the birthplace of Portugal nation. With this ended our tour of Portugal, we drove to Salamanca in Spain after this.
Road Trip Evora to Salamanca
A total distance of 998 km covered during the road trip through tourist attractions of Portugal in 5 days. Here are the highlights:
- We covered 11 major cities of Europe, 9 in Portugal and one in Spain
- 10 among them are listed in UNESCO World Heritage sites
- Tasted some amazing food of Portugal
- Victim of Pickpocketer in Lisbon
- Visited cathedral made of human bones
I had visited Faro, Lagos and Lisbon in my last trip. A bone chapel is there is Faro also. Beautiful pictures !

Bom Jesus Cathedral, Braga is really very beautiful place to visit. The skeletons are real ? very nice pictures.
