And why not… this century old Haveli (mansion) has been done up tastefully with modern comforts yet retained the old world charm. The vintage look of the facade of Sindhanwalia Haveli is grand and majestic!
The architects have maintained the structure the way it is. They have not removed a single brick from the structure. Entire Haveli has been renovated without disturbing the old elements.
The complete stretch between the Haveli and Barahdari used to be a vacant land space. The King used to hold his court at Barahdari. Barahdari, the word translates to 12 pillars. This unique concept was sacred for the locals. People sat around listening to the king. Now the entire area has been landscaped beautifully.

A flight of stairs lead to the grand interiors, and as I ascend the steps I feel an aura of royal feel descend on me! Well, that is what the latest trend of mansions turning into hotels is all about. That heritage and legacy… how else can common men experience it!
Surprisingly the foyer has bright shade of orange, a striking contrast to soothing peach shade on the facade. The walls are studded with flowery patterns and so were the marbled floors. All this themed on the traditional phulkari patterns, the traditional embroidery of Punjab.
The wooden staircase that led to the second floor is the same one used by the royals who resided here. Looks sturdy enough to last another couple of centuries! The rooms had high ceilings which were generously studded with lovely classy and trendy chandeliers.
The lobby has the fireplace which is now sealed up. The walls are decorated with old photographs of the members of the royal family. Fabrics for furnishings and upholstery are sourced locally. They are bright and beautiful.
Dining in Welcomhotel Amritsar
The 5 star Hotel has 4 creatively designed dining outlets. Welcomcafe Phulkari offers global, local and national cuisines, we dined here a couple of times during our stay and each time the buffet had refreshingly varied dishes. At Kebabs & Kurries in first floor of the hotel there was tempting varieties of kebabs. Be warned that you may fill yourself with the starters even before you can reach the main course. Swizzle, the bar, has international collection of premium beverages.
Dough& Co has a cosy café in the lush green back lawns of the hotel. During winters they arrange breakfast and the idea is a great hit with the locals. Best place for multi generational get-togethers in weekends or holidays.

Pagri Museum themed on Sikh turbans is worth a visit. Partition Museum is one of the tear triggering ones, housing the trauma of human migration in 1947. Attari Border, where the minds of patriotic Indians swells with pride is close by.

I love old historic properties that have been refurbished. And great that it was done in a way to attract many different kind of travelers. So great to bring back the history with photos. It is great there there were a number of different options for dining. That always helps with my decision to eat at the hotel. What a beautiful shot you got at night. Everything sparkles so!

A place where royalty once walked would be a dream location for a wedding. The whole hotel looks beautiful, and with those restaurants, I imagine the wedding feast would be amazing as well.
This looks like such a lush place to stay! The ideal mix of traditional beauty and some excitement. I love that there are dining places within the hotel grounds, I find this makes the stay a lot more enjoyable and homey feeling.
