Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Faces of India - Pujari

He is the junior pujari of Madhukeshwara Temple, in Banavasi, Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. At such an young age he has mastered many scriptures. When I looked impressed he said: nothing great about that, we have to learn all these to become pujari. He impressed me further when he told us the history of the temple and the stories related to several sculptures in the temple. It is out of interest he gathered all such information. Does he earn enough? I have not faced any difficulty yet – was his immediate answer. Do search him out in the temple if you want a guide there.

You can see him in his complete dress below.

    He’s impressive!

  4. I am just impressed how photos can tell stories as well. His answers made him appear humble. His look as well, for me, describes a humble man.
