Shubho Bijoya Bengali Greetings to All
Finally the five day festival of Durga Puja is over. After the long battle with demon Mahishasur, on this Bijoya Dashami day Goddess Durga leaves for Kailasa, her marital abode. After immersion of idols of Goddess Bengalis wish each other Shubho Bijoya. They make short crispy notes, with emotionally loaded rhyming words. Here is a list of Shubho Bijoya Bengali Greetings that you may wish to share with your near and dear ones after Durga Puja is over.
Significance of Bijoya Dashami
The main rituals on Dashami, the 10th day of the Durga Puja festival are: Devi Boron, Sindur Khela, Bisorjon (immersion of idols) and sprinkling of Shanti Jal.
The idol of Goddess Durga and her four children are immersed in water; often a tearful farewell. Friends greet each other with a hug and wish “Shubho Bijoya!” meaning “The Auspicious Victory”. Water from this spot is carried back to the pandals. This water is Shanti Jal and is sprinkled on devotees by the purohit.
Today the sky looked gorgeous. Sunbeams diverged from behind the clouds; my daughter got this spectacular view of Crepuscular rays.
How to wish Shubho Bijoya
Youngsters and kids touch the feet of their elders to seek blessings. Elders in return treat them with loads of blessings and sweets. Men do kolakoli, which is the Bengali word for embrace. It is a hug; mutual embracing, a form of warm greeting.
Shubho Bijoya Bengali Greetings
Shubo Bijoya is celebrated from the last day of Durga Puja for about a period of three days till Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on the full moon night immediately after Pujo. Shubho Bijoya to all my friends reading this! It is time to hug your friends and wish them. Feed sweets to all and eat them too!
