Causeway to Sao Jacinto Island – Visit Offbeat South Goa

During our road journey through coast of Goa we stumbled upon Sao Jacinto Causeway. To the south of Goa is this little island Sao Jacinto. All is has is a church! It is inhabited by some fishermen families. It is a sparsely inhabited island with a lifestyle of their own. Sao Jacinto Island is connected to the Panjim – Vasco highway by this causeway. We halted for a while on this causeway. Not all the street lights were working, yet it had a very calm and peaceful look.

The view towards the sea was good. Old ships, in their final stages lined up made a good subject for photography. Nothing much to highlight here but the island looks promising and I plan to get to its interior next when I am there.

The sides of the causeway had very beautiful tiled designs. This little bridge had definitely seen better days! Sao Jacinto Island can easily be rated as exotic part of south Goa, undisturbed and unclaimed by tourism industry of Goa!
