Photo Essay on Puja Pandals of 2014, Bangalore
When it is Durga Puja time of the year, Bengalis are in a frenzy celebrating the 4 days. Besides worship and prayers, eating and pandal hopping becomes major activities. (Pandals are places where the resident Bengalis of that area get together, contribute and worship Goddess Durga.)This year I could make it to 11 pujas in the city scattered in various parts of the city. Here is a Photo Essay on Puja Pandals of 2014, Bangalore. This post has 4 of them. There is a continuation of this post – here. Along with the decoration of pandal how the goddess is decorated becomes a hot topic of discussion.
The one below is from Koramangala Bengali association. This year they had a monochrome kind of decoration for the idols. Soft glittering peach shade.
The one below is from Kagdaspura. Very simply decorated the idols didn’t even have the crowns.
This one below is from Brookefields. Nice glittering decorations, the ornaments too shining; overall a yellow gold effect.
The final one of this post is from Assamese association of Bangalore. The whole place was very crowded and I had to take the pic from an angle. The decorations were of thermocol and overall there was a soothing snowy effect.
Hope you all liked this set.

Extremely beautiful images and the settings.Making the admirable puja images is an art that only a few can do.The design and decoration of the pandal and the backdrop is another creative art.
Wow.. so much work goes into these. I tend to like colourful over plain but in this case, I think I like the monochrome best.
