Faces of India – 36 Nun of a Church in Bangalore

She is a nun of a church in Bangalore. I met her during flower show in Lal Bagh. Initially I was hesitant to approach her for a picture. I observed her for a while before I could gather courage to ask her for a picture. Actually she seemed so cheerful in her group of friends I felt she was approachable. And I was right.

I explained to her the purpose of my portrait photography. She said, ” That is a nice photo project. I am guessing you haven’t clicked any picture of a nun before.” “You are right sister” I said. She flashed this brilliant smile to me.

In Christian religion women who dedicate themselves in service of God are called nun or sister. I have huge respect for them as they live an active vocation of prayer and charitable works in areas such as education and healthcare.

Faces of India,

Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011.
