The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Meticulous carvings on the doorways, walls and towers arrest my attention, each motif is different. A visit during broad day light will help to take good pictures. The interiors where the Linga is placed is dark, there are not much carvings in the interiors compared to exteriors.

Nanneshwara Temple Architectural Details

This Shiva temple has a Garbhagriha with Shiva Linga, half mandapam, navaranga and in the front, an open mukhamandapam. There are two entrance gates at East and South of navaranga. I was astonished to find the pillars in the navaranga smooth and glassy. On outer walls are Koshta Panjaras (sectioned external walls). Main entrance gate of the navaranga has lot of carvings.

The heavy circular pillars were made with some kind of lathe. This temple is small compared to the one in its south which is the Grand Kashi Vishwanath temple of Lakkundi.
