Small Boat Tour: Things to Do in Amsterdam
More pictures from my canal cruise in Amsterdam. This will surely help you understand why Small Boat Tour is the Best Things to Do in Amsterdam.
The history of Amsterdam is intimately connected with canals that criss cross the city. Can you believe it has 165 canals! These canals were created over the centuries to stimulate trade and transport and reclaim land to expand the city. They play a big role in defining the city’s landscape. In 2010 this 17th century canal ring of Amsterdam was recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.
The interiors of the boat we traveled in. The red interiors brightened up the dull and grey day outside.
Small Boat Tour: Things to Do in Amsterdam
Time crunch: that was our major problem when we set off to tour Amsterdam after our visit to Anne Frank’s house. After walking for a while with our two kids we realized walking would not be wise. We just had a few hours left because we planned the next night halt in Belgium.
That is when we decided to do the canal cruise. After seeing the several options we decided on one hour’s canal cruise that would take us through the major landmarks of the city.
The glass roof tops enabled us to have a clear view outside, the tall buildings along the sides of the canals. I instantly felt this is such a livable loveable city. The architecture is stunning and transportation is flawless.

A little bit of India in Amsterdam. I saw the advertisements of Yoga classes there. That too Iyengar Yoga a style of Yoga created by B K S Iyengar.
Some of the facades I saw there were beautiful. Most of them had stories, some the captain had narrated of which I remember nothing. Only the beauty of the sights remains with me.
I liked the windows of the residential buildings there… all uniformly done.

Wow.. that looks like a wonderful experience. I can just imagine you trying to organize the narrated stories in your mind so that you could share them with the images on your blog. Remembering nothing is exactly what would happen to me. 😉
