Luxury Stay with Family and Food Options in Bali Indonesia

The whole of Bali is tourist friendly and the people of Bali warm and welcoming. Therefore choosing any place to stay in Bali shouldn’t be a problem. But if you are looking for luxury stay with family and food options in Bali, Kuta and Ubud can provide the best choices.

Most hotels in Kuta are close to beaches and add to that the convenience of being close to airport. Several of these properties have their own private beaches. Some of the hotels offer their guided beach activity packages. So families with children keen on just sunning and tanning hotels along Kuta beach will be the best choice.

On the other hand Ubud has stunning views all around. The rice gardens offer bicycle tours and several thrilling activities like Sky Bike tours and swings that fly over the fields.

Luxury Stay with Family Options in Bali

In this post I have compiled Luxury Stay with Family and Food Options in Bali Indonesia.

Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Ubud Bali

Luxury hotel in the lap of nature! The setting of the hotel is dream like! All around there is just the views of lush green Ubud landscape and dense forests. Add to that the gentle gurgling sound of the Wos River flowing by. During my travels I usually prefer to spend as less time as possible in hotel rooms and see more of the sights around. But here I wanted to spend more time within the confines of the hotel.

One special feature of this hotel is that it is an enchanting wedding venue. There are 4 primary wedding scenes that is 4 different backdrop and setting for couples to exchange their vows. The hotel has 2 restaurants: Sungai Restaurant, buffet breakfast has a good variety and Naga Rooftop Bar and Lounge.

Nearby attractions: Ubud Palace, Tegenungan Waterfall, Neka Art Museum

Location: Distance from Bali airport is 30km and takes an hour to reach in peak traffic conditions.

Mercure Bali Legian Kuta

The hotel scores high points for its strategic location on the main street of Legian. It is close to the famous Kuta and Legian beaches. Nearby there are joints for exciting nightlife and numerous restaurants serving Balinese food.

Food: Ancak Restaurant serves International cuisine. The buffet for breakfast was very good. Saw my vegetarian friends happy with the variety of food.

Room: My room was spacious with one king size bed, LCD TV , in-room safety deposit box, free WiFi which mattered to me the most, minibar fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, working table, telephone! I think all that one can ask for while on holiday.

Location: 8km from Bali International Airport.

Kuta Beach Heritage Hotel

A Jewel on The Seafront – that is how they describe themselves and how true it is! Kuta beach is hardly 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. It is a west facing beach, a walk along the shore is delightful as it is free of crowds. Do visit their Waves Restaurant, rooftop pool, and Riva Bar & Restaurant – you will swoon over its breathtaking ocean view. The architect and interior designers could bring this close to the sophistication of a luxury cruise ship.

Hard Rock Cafe, mall and several fast food restaurants are walking distance away. There are some good massage parlors too nearby.

Food: Many options for buffet breakfast.

Location: It scores high for it s proximity to International Bali airport. It is 5km and takes around 20min by private transport.

Food Options in Bali

Bali food may be a confluence of Indian, Chinese and Portuguese cuisines, yet it has a distinct character of its own. Both veg and non veg meals are available in all restaurants. Beef and pork both are available. It is recommended that you avoid street food unless you get some really dependable reference. Food in Balinese restaurants is reasonably priced. Here are a few food options which I found good.

Sundays Beach Club Bali

Located in the southernmost tip of Bali, this place is best choice if you have a fat budget for dining and ready to indulge in once in a while. Most romantic setting in Bali among the ones presented here.

Had one drink (mock tail) and 2 course dinner, Italian menu. The platter was well presented with flowers and herbs. We were served first with pumpkin Agnolotti, brown butter sage. The second was Javanese Barramundi, fondant potatoes, cabbage puree, and salted eggs.

It is open 9am to 10pm every day.

Wallet factor: 450000IDR for access and 250000IDR for food coupons. Beach side huts are available on rent. You get a funicular ride half the distance down.

Not differently-able friendly.

The rocky land forms here make good elements for sunset pictures. One particular rock form looks like an open mouth.

Kemangi Restaurant Kuta Bali

If you are a seafood lover then Kemangi Restaurant Kuta is the place for you in Bali.

We went to Kemangi restaurant as a big group, which was split up to 2 groups, veg group and non-veg group. Both groups got several dishes. I relished their Hong Kong style sea food dishes a lot. We were a little late for Indonesian dance and music performance put up for guests. They present 30min long Balinese dance for guests while they dine and they allow photography with performers after the event.

Open: 11am to 10pm.

Wallet factor: towards the higher side. But okay considering the fact you get to see traditional dances of Bali. Try to be on time.

Golden Saffron Kuta

This one is a must for all who love Indian cuisine. Safe and good food, with no worries to fall sick. Golden Saffron restaurant is run by an Indian who understands the pulse of Indian food lover well and is very friendly. We had a good chat with him catching up on life in Bali.

For Indians who are on a long holiday in Bali hit this place for your comfort food. Great ambiance, interior decor has authentic Indian touch. Good spread both for veg and non-veg options.

Located on a busy street with not enough parking space. Though I like local Indonesian food tasting Indian food in a foreign land was delightful.

Open 11am to 10pm.

Wallet factor – pocket friendly.

Sitara Indian Restaurant Ubud

Amazing fresh Indian food! I found both this and The Golden Saffron Restaurant good and it is really hard to choose one. But if you are in Ubud, Sitara Indian restaurant would be the best. Run by a lady, she is third generation Bali resident; she seemed well informed about Bollywood movies. We chatted, in fact gossiped on the latest releases and the movie stars.

Good choice of veg and non veg food. I must make a mention of the raw mango pickles and fresh mint chutney, they reminded me of home! They have branches in Surabaya and Denpasar. They are now able to cater to number of Indian tourists increasing with each passing year. This restaurant features in list of top Indian restaurants in Bali.

Open: 11am to 11pm

Wallet factor – Pocket friendly

Bebek Joni Ubud

The only regret is having visited Bebek Joni Restaurant at night. We were there for dinner. It is set in the green fields of Ubud and has good insta worthy pic spots. So we missed out on the beautiful sights and possible photo opportunities.

Coming to food, the set meals was well presented. Non veg dish had the ever popular roasted duck/bebek. Chicken satte was good too. Veg dish too had good variation. Nasi Goreng so perfectly done, the best I had in all of Bali.

Open: 8am to 9pm

Wallet factor – towards the higher side but not unreasonably expensive. After all the views have to be thanked too.

  • Great to read, Thanks for details post.

  • What an amazing stay you had!

  • I stayed in Nusa Dua Bali for my honeymoon 10years ago and loved it. I wasn’t too much of a fan of Kuta but that is just a personal choice. I do however like the sound of staying in the area of Ubud, especially for the views and the activities in the area like bicycle tour and the swings that fly over the rice fields. Love the sound of the Sundays Beach Club that would be a special treat.

  • Kuta and Ubud look amazing for a family holiday. And the food looks amazing! Being a blend of Indian, Chinese and Portuguese sounds absolutely delicious! I’d love to try the Kemangi Restaurant in Kuta.

  • What a beautiful (and tasty) place to stay in Bali! I hope to get to that part of the world one of these days!

  • We haven’t been to Indonesia yet but of course it’s also on our bucket list! All the hotels you recommend here seem quite good. Sthala Hotel definitely looks grand! And the fact that it’s located not far away from the Ubud Palace and the art museum is a big plus! Thanks for your tips!

I loved your post as it has many luxury stay options which are family friendly. I am a family traveler so always look for such options. Sthala, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel in Ubud Bali suits my taste of stay. Good to know it is situated on the banks of river Wos.

  • Looks like a marvelous place to stay when one is visiting Bali, though I have to admit it is not often you see luxury hotel and family friendly in the same post. The food … oh my does that look and sound absolutely delicious!

  • In Amsterdam, I was able to try Indonesian food for the first time. We had something called a rice table. Is that something authentic that can be found in Bali? It was very good.

  • It was more than 40 years ago when I had the chance to visit Bali. I do hope to go back and luxury stays are what we need as senior travelers!

  • Hello, great report on your trip and on the restaurants. The sunset view is beautiful! Enjoy your day, wishing you a good week ahead!

  • We are always looking for recommendations for luxury stays. Although I must admit we often are not looking for family resorts. We did not stay in Ubud on our previous visit. But the Sthala sounds like a perfect getaway. I love the idea of the Sundays Beach Club for a romantic dinner for two. Even if it might be an expensive splurge. Love the sunset view.

  • That food all looks SO DELICIOUS, what was your favorite meal you had there? The hotel is stunning.
