Why is Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrated?

Why is Bhagwan Ganeshji worshiped?
Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of new beginnings. His blessings are sought before embarking on any new endeavor, whether it’s a business venture, a wedding, or even the start of a new academic year. Ganesh Chaturthi is considered an auspicious time to start new projects, businesses, or ventures.
Ganesha is depicted with an elephant head, which symbolizes wisdom, intelligence, and discernment. His large ears signify the importance of listening and understanding, while his small mouth represents the need to speak less and choose words wisely.
Another reason why people worship Lord Ganesha is to seek his blessings in removing obstacles and challenges from their paths. People bring Ganesha idols into their homes and workplaces to invoke his blessings for a successful and obstacle-free future.

This looks like a festival I would love to take part in. The statue is very colourful.
There's something mildly reminiscent of the genie in Aladdin…
