Faces of India – 28 a Passer By with Taqiyah
A passer by with Taqiyah (Arabic), he seemed to be in hurry to me. I was more interested in the cap he was wearing. Muslim cap, it has names like skullcap, araqchin (Persian), Kufis (United States and Britain), topi or tupi in India. This is a brimless, short, and rounded cap worn by men. They come in different colors and patterns. See a tourist guide with green skull cap here – Faces of India 7
Skull cap(kufi) is neither fard nor sunnah. It’s just part of culture.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
