Faces of India – 255 from Shimoga Karnataka
Faces of India
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
She is a sweeper employed in Hotel Mayura Gerusoppa or may be she was employed by the Karnataka Tourism authorities there. (I mentioned once before too that the workers here are very dedicated to work. They have kept the surroundings really neat.)
I spotted her early morning sweeping the place clean. The bright pink jacket she wore cheered me up and I felt she is approachable. My mind was already working on her pic for my faces of India series from Shimoga Karnataka.
Both she and her husband are employed there as cleaners. Since they aren’t permanent employees and work on temporary basis the salary isn’t sufficient for the family she said. When I asked what she likes most about her work, she replied she enjoyed seeing the various tourists there. No one talks to her though. She felt happy talking to me she said.
Charming.
