Faces of India – 245
Faces of India,
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. See more here…
From the condition of his dress you would have made out what he does for his living, no? He is a painter, he paints buildings. He has come all the way from a village near Malda, West Bengal. The lure of a little better earning brought him all the way from Bengal to Bangalore, leaving his family there.
He seemed a very cheerful person and very easy to strike a conversation. I had observed him while he was painting my apartment, and decided to feature him in my faces of India series. In fact he seemed more eager to know the kind of education in Bangalore. Whether CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) based schools are available in Bangalore. His son is in 4th grade and he is keen to see his son pass through this board. He sends money back to his family and manages to go home during big festivals.
Beautifully portrayed. Kerala too has a large migrant population from Bengal and Assam. They do not face problems in getting good food unlike Biharis or Bhaiyyas. Incidentally I came across a Bengali painter on the top of a ladder at Kalady. We both were happy to converse to our heart’s content.
He looks cheerful! Nice shot.
Such a positive face and happy smile he has. Please share the comments with him, Indrani. 🙂

The story behind each face gives so much to learn about.
