Faces of India – 220 Samosa Shop in Guptipara
The samosas are fresh, that cheered me up, but one look at the oil in the wok I paused. I hesitated to even ask the price. “When did you last change the oil?” “Today morning didi (sister),” he said.
He is a cook at the tea shop that sells samosas too; the owner not anywhere around. Picture taken in a street of Guptipara, West Bengal.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels.ย Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Samosas are one of the most famous snacks of India. Gratitude for those who prepares India's popular snacks daily. Wonderful tribute through this post.
Do samose mujhe bhi . chatni daal ke
Perfect image!
Street food is tempting, till we start thinking what happens behind the scenes. Nice pic ๐
Great shot and I think they look delicious. Oil can change colors pretty quickly but I understand why it gave you pause.
I want the samosas.
Despite the oil, the samosas look fresh and hopefully tastier! Nice shot
Happy Sunday
Hahaha, I highly doubt that oil was changed in the recent past, but how tempting those samosas look! Sigh. Street food in India is always such a tightrope walk between wanting to jump headfirst (with your mouth open!) into all the yummy fare you see, and exercising some restraint out of concern for your stomach. You've beautifully captured the tempter with his samosas! ๐
Thanks for the compliment on the pic dear friends. ๐
Nimi yes, hot samosas… I was tempted. But I proceeded to another shop and made an effort not to see the oil. It will be the same story at all shops. ๐
Got the perfect shot with the oil and samosas and the cook…
Were you tempted enough to have the samosas though, I am curious…
A treat in the monsoons! He seems so serious about the work he is doing, must be good!
Hahaha…yes true …looking at oil anyone could hesitate buy samosa
