Faces of India – 216 Cheer Girl for IPL in Bangalore

For a change, not an Indian. She is a foreigner, who is here to perform as a cheer girl for IPL match held recently in Bangalore. They were rehearsing on MG Road Bangalore, when I crossed them on my way to Coorg in April 2015.

Cheer girls play entertaining role not only in IPL matches but also in other sports. Cheerleading is the performance of athletic skills, jumps, dance and/or chanting to gain a response from spectators at an event. They chant for their teams and motivate the team to perform better. They also perform for charity funds in a organized routine. They generally perform at events on a contract basis.

Salary for Cheerleaders per match is INR 6000 to INR 12000. Winning Bonus – INR 3000. For extra appearances – INR 7000 to INR 12000.

Faces of India,

Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011.
