Faces of India – 212 Cooks from Shri Shri Ravishankar’s Ashram
Cooks I met at Shri Shri Ravishankar’s ashram. I saw a group of them near the ashram’s dining hall. I was hesitantly looking at them, thinking what wonderful subjects they would make for my FOI series.
Seeing the camera hung on my neck one of them asked” You do photography?”
“Of course I do”, I replied. “Can I take yours?”
Immediately there was a chorus: “Yes please do.”
They grouped themselves up, pulled the sari over their heads and looked frozen.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
Could have smiles little rather staring strong!
i love these portraits. I have always wanted to do a series of portraits but am rather chicken to ask strangers if I can take their pictures.
I am looking forward to seeing more of yours.
Wonderful shot and how lovely they were willing to have their photograph taken.
What a nice thing that your subjects were so eager to pose as well ! Lovely photo !
The lively narratives under FOI posts makes them interesting.
Ah, the rewards of wearing your camera on your neck!
