Faces of India – 195 Local from Goa
Took this picture at a bus stop in Goa. It was his cap (folded type made of cotton) and his traditional attire that made me focus on him.
Lot of people was there around him and he looked so immersed in his thoughts, I took a click from a distance and moved on. His expression makes me feel that he is hassled a bit waiting for long at the bus stop. He was in a dhoti. You can read more about Maharashtrian men’s wear here.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
Nice capture! Looks worried though.
He looks so much like my grandpa 🙂 The only difference is age and moustache.. My grandpa is 96 years old and looks very weak but few years earlier looked much more like him..
Simplicity at its best.
Gud shot! 🙂 I like his eyebrows too!
Another nice shot to the series…
Great shot Indrani. Another feather in your cap !
Very well captured even though it was from a distance.
A thousand of thoughts may be flashing in his memory… Nice capture Indrani… 🙂
Nice ! Do you also have his full portrait with Dhoti?
Pandit ji
Wonderful photograph, truly Indian 🙂
Very interesting portrait.
When we went to shirdi, almost everyone looked in the same attire…! Great shot!!
Every tradition has a beauty of its own!
I recalled the Pune memories… Most of the elderly men wore similar costume in Pune too.
A wonderful portrait of this gentleman ? He looks deep in thought. Thank you for the link. It was very interesting.
interesting capture!!
during my north karnataka road travel, I saw many men in these caps and dhotis and also women in maharashtrian sarees, so I asked the driver, he told me that on the north karnatak border area, lot of maharashrtian population lives too!!

Great photo.
He does indeed appear to be so deep in thought. You've captured his mood well.
Can't miss the resemblance of this person with Lal Bahadur Shastri.

He looks patriotic in his wears! Excellent capture and detail even it was shot from distance.
