Faces of India – 162 Sadhu in Streets of Kolkata
With his matted hair, worn out clothes, a distant look in his eyes; he looked like a lost human being in the ocean of humans around him. The shot was taken through the window bars of the bus I was traveling in Kolkata. Soon the bus moved on and I lost track of him.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
We see so many people like him.. sometimes they get lost in all the hurry and crowds. Very expressive face. Great shot !
Wondering if he was in lost feeling or was he worried looking at the lost people around him! God only knows the answer! Anyways, this is a great capture Indrani 🙂 Thank you for making us think… TC! Keep smiling 🙂 Happy clicking 🙂

An interesting portrait. This man has a soulful demeanor indeed, and you have captured it well in this photo. I believe his "hairstyle" is Jata, dreadlocks, worn for spiritual reasons.
This photo does indeed make me realize how very blessed I am, Indrani!! A sad, but incredible capture and a great reminder! Thank you!
what a soulful face.
