Faces of India – 128 Man Milking the Cow Mayapur
You can make out what his work is, no? He is one of the many milking men I met in Goshala of ISKON Mayapur, West Bengal.
They have not started mechanized milking of cows yet. Once that is done many of them are bound to loose their jobs.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
Interesting…. His name is Manoj and He milks 8-10 cows daily.
He is milking and it's just an innocent glance…
we now have Recently born Radharaman, Radhika, Nadia and Bihari. Beutiful ones may be I shall post their pic. later.
A gentle face on a hard-working man.
I somehow never thot we could mechanise the milking process! But now that you mention it …

Great capture, Thanks a lot for sharing.
Oh I really, really like this image!! Well done.
The eyes says it all. And look he did not miss a beat, milk is flowing.
Lovely picture! This series is going to be fascinating for me who's never been to India!
Wonderful. It isn't easy at first to milk a cow, I've tried!
Marvelous photo Indrani!
Brilliant camera work. Poor man, he will lose his job.
I wanted to see cow's face too 🙂

Oh, that will be sad when they lose their jobs, I think. Your Faces of India are always wonderful.
Great photo! I can't figure out if the expression on his face means he is tired or embarrassed or annoyed. It's still a wonderful slice of life shot!
Great shot. You bring people alive on the page with your excellent shots.
Once mechanization happens, hope these guys are given suitable alternate jobe
The dirt road at the back of Mayapur Ashram leading to the Goshala and the adjoining shops selling Honey and Milk product is also interesting.
The subject and framing of milking the cow is excellent with all the associated details have been very nicely included.
that is hard work every day.
Interesting…
What a wonderful capture
Seriously at work ! Today's children don't get to see even a cow let along milking one 🙂
Beautiful shot! My grandfather would do this casually then
Do you still get the taste of fresh milk? This's what he sees to say.
Very good shot Indrani…. i love it.
Greetings, Joop

Your "people captures" are amazing, Indrani, and their faces say SO much! I'm always moved by what I see and read! Thank you!
