Faces of India – 324, Vendor from Holebagilu, Karnataka
Faces of India
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. She is a buttermilk vendor from Holebagilu Karnataka. I met her in Holebagilu, a ferry point before crossing over to Sigandur. She was selling chilled buttermilk. She may have gone unnoticed but for the comment she made to me. As I was completing the payment towards the purchases I made she commented –
Canon cameras are very good, right?
I was a little taken aback that she made a comment on the performance of Canon 7D MarkII.
How do you know?… was my immediate question.
She – My husband has one.
Me – that is good. He takes your pictures with it?
She – No! (She suddenly got a bit shy). He is a wedding photographer akka (she addressed me as elder sister) I have seen him handle similar Canon cameras.
Me – You have taken pictures with it?
She – (Laughs) No, he doesn’t let me touch it.
Me – You must start taking pics, it is easy.
She laughed a little more. I was very happy with this little conversation and also because she willingly gave a pose.
I loved the portrait. It’s feel great to meet such people who can surprise you with knowledge. Quite interesting.
