Faces of India – 305 from Bikaner, Rajasthan
Faces of India
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
If you have walked the streets of old Bikaner you would have surely spotted him. He is the owner of one of the horse driven carriages there. The old streets of Bikaner are lined with beautiful haveli (mansions). There are several of them scattered over an area of few sq.kms. While walking can be an option to see them, there are some ‘horse driven’ carriages too which you can hire. I had taken a tour of this place in Jan 2017, thanks to Narendra Bhawan team.
I remember his name to be Ali. When I asked him how long he has been managing this carriage he laughed away my question.
He looks modern yet traditional. I bet he had a lot of stories to tell.
A face that cannot be forgotten… How sharp his eyes are!
He seems to be a good poser, you have captured him so well!
nice portrait along with his chariot
