Faces of India – 298 Honest Waiter of KC Das Bangalore
Faces of India
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
This gentleman is a sales guy from a famous Bengali sweet shop of Bangalore. Those who visit the shop K C Das will recognize him. Can you guess why I am featuring him here?
No, not because he packed up the rasgullas for me. I am grateful to him for saving my camera EOS MarkII 7D. I had happily eaten sweets in K C Das and walked out forgetting my camera bag there. I even drove off some distance, 500meters or so, when suddenly waiting at traffic signal I felt I was missing something. And then in a flash I remembered my camera.
I was in panic, it was more than 15minutes I had left that shop. I got down there immediately, asked my husband to take the next u turn and come to the shop. From there I ran, yes I was running between the vehicles, crossed the road, on to the pavement, I kept running… I don’t from where I got that energy that day!
Finally panting I entered the shop, my eyes scanning the place where I sat. My heart sank when I didn’t find my camera there. For a moment I was lost.
Everybody seemed busy with their activities. The customers eating and chatting, waiters serving, men at sales counter packing, only I stood there frozen, my heart ready to break at the loss of my dear camera.
I then went to the billing desk and told them about the camera I had forgotten. They fished out a bag from their desk and a smile was back in my face instantly. As I reached out to grab my camera bag they said you have to wait till the waiter who served you identifies and confirms that this is your bag. I don’t even remember who that waiter was!
After a while he came and confirmed to the billing guy the bag was indeed mine. I thanked him a lot but he walked off to continue his work.
By now my mind was totally tired and relieved. I returned to the shop another day to click picture of this Honest Waiter of KC Das Bangalore! He gave his usual smile.
I like to read this kind of story and see that nice people still exist! I’m glad you had your camera back 🙂
Glad for you 🙂 He hold beautiful smile
Phew. That must have been such a relief !
He indeed seems to be as sweet as the shop 🙂
The whole incidence you narrated, sounded like a scene straight out of a bollywood movie. 🙂 Very well narrated. Even though I’ve never been to that place, the narration was brilliant enough to help me visualize the whole scene…
Good human, great act! Liked the part that they verified the owner before handing over the camera…
Seeing your blog after long time. So much changes! New PC theme replacing old Colorib theme. New sharing buttons! Looks nice!
A Good Samaritan indeed
His clothes are as white as Rasgulla .
