Faces of India – 292

Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. See more here

I met this purohit (priest of Hindu Temple) in Someshwara Temple Halasuru, Bangalore. He was happily chatting away when I signaled him and asked if I could take his picture. He was busy in conversation yet we gave a go ahead sign. Later he asked to show the pic that I clicked. He was happy when I showed his smiling picture to him.

“Are you going to post this in facebook?” and then even without waiting for a reply he said “please do share. No problems!”

I wanted to tell him about my blog on faces of India… instead I asked him “did you meet the British PM Theresa May?” “No way! Too much security arrangements that day. Only periyavar (senior purohits) could meet her” he sounded disappointed saying that.

  • Amazing images. I had to Google the word “tilak” and now know it’s the mark worn on his forehead.

    I like his tilak.
