Faces of India – 284 The Guard from Kiradu Temple Barmer
I met this guard at Kiradu Temple Complex near Barmer, Rajasthan. The ice cold stern look made him look more like a statue than a human. It seemed he would merge into those walls of Temples of Kiradu Complex.
To me his eyes seemed to connect with some distant form which could evolve out of nowhere. While we all, a group of around 50 people at the temple, were busy involved with activities of our interest, the guard seemed to get ready to respond and engage with his surroundings. Not just this guard alone but the other guards too wore the same stony look.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. I guess they have to show stone face because they are guard after all. They have to show their straight face
What a beautiful portrait shot. Sometimes, I wish I have the knack to shoot like this.
wow! A collection of faces! Each and every one of them portray different characters! Interesting!

He sure looks like a statue that is just about to come to life. Thanks for sharing this photo!
Oh may, I got a feeling he might just scream whenever now..
He looks so fierce , i will get one too .
his moustache is really well groomed 🙂 nice sharing
After all hes a guard and a guard has to portray a certain kind of strictness. I think that’s what he is doing. From the inside he might be just as mild as he is stern outside. And that is the beauty of Indians. Liked your concept of exploring the Indians through photographs.
Looks like he has just spotted something which should not have been there.
His face says that he is serious about his work and no hanky panky stuff while he is on duty.
Like the two tones of his turban.
Whoa, that’s an intense stare & great capture. Love the moustache!
I’m I the Jallad of Bigg Boss??
Great Mustache !! King Size

He looks really scary.
His big but well trimmed mustache make his looks more stony
