Faces of India – 272
Faces of India,
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. See more here…
Sometimes I take photo to capture the person I met or saw, but sometimes it is their clothing that draws my attention. Like this security guard, his head gear called for a shot. The morning sun was casting the fine shadow of his headgear on his face. The golden threads were shining and each strand seemed distinct. The red and blue stripped frill standing upright just as proud as the man wearing it! Yes, it was a ceremonial occasion, the Republic Day. The security guards were dressed in their neatly pressed uniforms. That headgear is called “pugree”. It is also called “ready to wear turban” and sold in that ready form.
You can read about his colleague here: Faces of India – 251.
First time I am seeing a well disciplined dressed security guard with a
Class uniform …nice onr
Really nice one. thanks for sharing.
A great expression on his face… a nice capture
Attention !!! Nice click.
A great capture indeed…. We need them the most in current scenario…..
Fabulous shot! I found myself just staring at it, absorbing each detail of the hat.
Nice observation on the turban and well captured portrait!
He is looking little irritated—for the heat of the sun or for continuous standing?
High contrast pic, nicely taken. Good observation.
so majestic and elegant
Not very happy face …. maybe tired or fed up! Good capture!
The turban looks grand! What a picture!
The band parades at the Army functions or during the National festivals is too good. The dress, the rhythmic discipline and overall prim and proper presentation is mesmerising.
Fabulous headgear!
Bright contrasting colors and stern expressions on his face … Superb portrait !
The expression on his face is noteworthy too dear..fine capture 🙂
The design of pugree is nice. I see these many times in TV, news paper etc. But never noticed so closely about the golden threads. Thanks to your camera 🙂
