Scenic Drive from Milan to Turin – Wonderful Road Trip
Italy is blessed to have a very scenic landscape. During our 21 days road trip through Italy, we drove city to city and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacular scenery. Turin figured in our itinerary on 9th day and we started off from Milan with our bellies full. The drive from Milan to Turin was scenic!
Milan to Turin Day Trip
The pleasant part of touring Italy was driving; driving among valleys, up and down the mountains, sometimes in the plains and sometimes veering around the lakes. One memorable road trip we had was scenic drive from Milan to Turin. We set off, south-westwards from Milan, embarking on a well-connected and well-maintained road network that ensured a smooth and enjoyable trip.
The transition from the bustling urban environment to the serene countryside. The route took us through rolling hills, charming villages, and verdant fields, providing a glimpse of the idyllic Italian countryside.
A total distance of 128 km, we covered it in a little more than two hours. We were in no hurry you see. Most part of the road trip we stayed on the slower lane. And at some of the toll booths we faced small queues.
Instead of taking the train we drove Milan to Turin because it worked out cheaper for us, a family of four. But if you are solo traveling or on a budget travel train would work out lot cheaper. The only concern we had was whether we would find a parking space in Turin.
How to reach Turin from Milan
We chose the self drive option to reach Turin from Milan.
Another option is Rideshare, which works out comparatively lot cheaper. Time taken in with rideshare would be a little more though. So if time is not a constraint you can opt for rideshare.

Road trip Milan to Turin
Along the way, there were various rest stops, service areas, and cafes where one can take a break, stretch your legs, and enjoy some local cuisine. These stops are excellent opportunities to immerse yourself in the regional flavors and indulge in the renowned Italian culinary delights.
We halted at one of the cafes and gorged on some snacks.
The drive from Milan to Turin was thankfully incident free and accident free. The weather was good, a boon for any tourist, late April an ideal time to tour Italy. The skies were cloud free, the view of Alps clear, the roads traffic-jam free and our car problem free… what else could we ask for?
Sharing some shots of the drive, hope you will enjoy.
Finally it seemed we were nearing Turin. Interesting outline of historic monuments of Turin began to take shape.
Turin features in list of World Heritage sites of Italy since 1997 for the Residences of Royal House of Savoy. There are 22 palaces and villas developed by the dukes of Savoy from 1562 for administrative and recreational purposes in and around Turin. 11 of them are in the centre of Turin and the remaining 11 located around the city. I wanted to see at least a couple of them.

That sculpture is very similar to one in my city (one I'm still planing to post about).
And also snowy mountain peaks in the summer always amaze me.
The sculpture in the first photo is unusual! I would love to shoot it from different angels and in different lights.
One good road trip a year is my panacea to ennui that sets in during the year.
