Faces of India – 176 Aloha Shirt, a Fashion Statement as Uniform
Such wildly colorful, enthusiastically printed, shirt attracted my attention. Isn’t his aloha shirt lovely?
When I saw him I knew he was a perfect face for my Faces of India series. I liked the color and the patterns on it very much. He was kind to pose for me. It is his uniform. He wears it to his work everyday. Now can you guess what does he do for a living? What is his profession? I will give the answer in the next part of this series.
Faces of India
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
CR Fashion Book mentions: One source believes the aloha shirt can be traced back to 1926 when a college student created a prototype with his mother’s dressmaker: a button-down collared shirt made out of yukata, the same cloth Japanese women use for work kimonos. It was reportedly an instant hit among his University of Hawaii friends and he brought the design over to the mainland later that year.
In 1936 garment-maker Ellery Chun officially trademarked the term “aloha shirt” and it stuck.

I love the colors and patterns of his shirt as well. I'd guess that he works in a hotel or in a resort-based band.

This shirt is telling me: take a holiday
There's something very touching about that face, Indrani… my heart goes out to that kid if he's already making his own living.
A lovely capture. I tried hard after looking at all the answers here & on FB but ….

Very cool and holiday shirt! I guess you shot him at Goa and he’s a guide or a resort worker?
If it's a profession, he's part of a band. Or if it's his job, he is one of those lads who look after tourists at beach resorts. Hope you're having a great day, Indrani. Greetings from Jo, Tanzania
