5 Reasons Why Hyatt Dharamshala Stay Experience is Different
Statistics state that there is a slow and steady increase in number of to tourists every year. Dharamsala, abode of His Holiness Dalai lama, too has geared up to accommodate the rising number of tourists. There are plenty of mid range and low range budget hotels in Dharamshala, however when it comes to luxury hotels there are hardly any to choose from.
Your search for 5 star hotels in Dharamshala or Mcleodganj ends with the the recently launched property of Hyatt. Hyatt has now come up with a wonderful property to cater to those who can splurge during holidays.
All luxury hotels are created equally, sorry, not equally.
As a guest at Hyatt Residency Dharamshala resort I found that this luxury hotel is planned well with lot of attention to details. All the usual luxury features and infrastructure are included in the making of this hotel. I will make a mention of them towards the end of the post.
5 Reasons Why Hyatt Dharamshala Stay Experience is Different
But first the 5 extra special features that makes Hyatt Residency Dharamshala Resort stand out distinctly.
Nestled in Pine Forest
Most hotels on mountain slopes are built after leveling the forest growth. In Hyatt Dharamshala I noticed that is not what they did. A good amount of forest growth is seen all around. They have spread out and built it across 4 buildings with none of them more than 5 storeys high.
The entire area has a canopy of tall Pine trees; as a result you still get the feel of nestling deep inside a Pine Tree forest. The balconies are well planned without intruding into privacy of any of the other buildings around.
Few of their rooms face the mighty snow covered peaks of Himalayas. They are very few in number costs more too.
5 Bedroom Shanti Villa
Hyatt Regency Dharamshala has the usual room types found in every other hotel – like the King rooms, with balconies/ private gardens, suites, villas but the one that caught my attention, fascination was the 5 bedroom villa called the Shanti Villa! It can easily accommodate families with 10 members and also has a separate room for their assistant/maid traveling with them.
Cost wise it works out the same or a little higher than other rooms if taken individually. Imagine coming for a holiday and getting scattered in different rooms, spoils half the fun right? Comfort factor is this villa’s biggest plus factor! This will surely elevate the Hyatt Dharamshala Stay Experience for a large family.
There is only one such villa in the hotel now. Just in case you are planning to have a family get together you have to plan and book well in advance for Shanti Villa.
Home Cinema
I was enamored by their ‘Home Cinema’, a mini theatre with advanced Dolby surround sound and 3D projection. It can accommodate up to 15 persons at one go. I didn’t want to walk out of the place, such an intimate audio-visual experience! I am sure not many hotels in India can boast of such a feature. Check out with the hotel staff the operating hours of the theatre.
Unique Eco Friendly Initiatives
Their eco friendly initiatives are indeed praiseworthy; some of them are second to none! Plastic bottles are gone! The glass bottles they provide in rooms has water sourced from Himalayas further purified.
The hotel has a decent vegetable patch. They plan to source at least 30 to 40% of their requirement from their own herb gardens. Do you know of any other big hotel chains which try to source raw materials from their own garden?
Yet another specialty is their tea. No it is not the tea itself but the packaging inside the sachet. I was surprised to see that the tea sachets they provide in the rooms had handmade muslin bags of tea! I am sure you are surprised too.
All the above were based on providing the best entertainment, comfort and food aspects of your stay in the hotel. Beyond this can there be something?
Chat with Monks
Well Hyatt Regency Dharamshala stunned me with this one: They have something called Monk Chat or chat with Monks!
Now, before Hyatt came into the place some monks were residing there. Those monks have been well compensated and they stay a little away from the hotel. If the guests desire they can have a chat with the monks. It is not a one to one chat, minimum of 8 to 10 guests will be required for this.
If this is not a complete holistic experience, what else will this be categorized as!
Experiential Guided Tours by Hyatt
We experienced 2 of their several experiential guided tours. One was walk to Bhagsunag Waterfalls. They arranged breakfast for us there but before that we had a good Yoga session conducted by their trained professional. This is a complimentary activity given to all guests. The other experience was Hi-Tea during sunset at Museum lawns of Kangra Fort. They have more experiences to offer.
Other Regular Features of Luxury Hotels
Hotel staff behavior is excellent and very helpful. I especially loved their evening room service. Both the days I was there I returned to a neatly spruced up room with fresh towels and the robe laid out!
Food scene was mind blowing rather tummy blowing if there is word like that! Such amazing spread of different cuisines like that of Himachali, Tibetan with a variety of momos. The buffet breakfast spread had a good choice of different dishes.
The bar has a cool sitting area and a fireplace and a cozy little reading area where you will want to curl up with a book!
WiFi is good, uninterrupted and free, which matters a lot for those who believe in updating their social media status.
Parking available and is free.
They have separate space for conferences, weddings, intimate dinners and gatherings.
There is indoor heated pool.
For a relaxing massage therapy get pampered in expert hands at their Shanti Spa.

Conclusion
I was a guest in Hyatt Dharamshala in Jan 2020 for a couple of days. My Hyatt Dharamshala Stay Experience was one of the best ever! All opinions and pictures in this post are my own.
Hearing abt this place for the first time… Very impressive
I’m glad that they left the forest growth! It’s so important for hotels to consider the environment and their impact, so leaving those trees is super important to me. I’m glad that they also pay attention to the details – will consider it when I head that way!! 🙂 What a lovely view, too.
Wow! Happy to know that a 5-star accommodation is now available in Dharamshala. What a great way to spend the morning enjoying the view of the covered peaks of Himalayas. This is the first time I heard about the home cinema offered in a hotel and I believe it’s a great addition to a perfect staycation. 🙂
I havent made it to India yet but when I visit I want to go to Dharamshala as it looks like a stunning area. The Hyatt looks beautiful and great that they haven’t destroyed the environment to create their beautiful hotel. I would love to stay here relax in the pool and movie room and try the home made tea.
Great post!! I have to Dharamshala while traveling in India and it was one of the few places where I felt so connected to myself and yes, the number of tourists traveling there has been increasing significantly too. I haven’t stayed in Hyatt but love to book a stay there.
Dharamshala looks like the place to go , to get back to nature. I was impressed about how they go about being eco-friendly. From being nestled within the pine trees to serving tea in muslin to glass bottles filled with himalayan waters. And you showed just how much of attention to detail the Hotel pays and just for that it is well worth a visit.
This hotel sounds amazing! I love that they kept the forest intact. Also that food looks so delicious, I wish I could eat it right now! I’ll definitely keep this hotel in mind if I ever visit the area.
Wow…Your stay in Hyatt Dharamshala looks so beautiful and incredible. The view of Himalaya from your room is just fantastic. What I like the most are the intimate cinema, the handmade tea bags, and the lounge bed next to the heated indoor swimming pool. Thank you for sharing this experience. I would see this hotel as one of the options to stay if we ever go to Dharamshala.
Dharamshala is still on my bucket list. Hope I go there one day to see these breathtaking views. It is great to know that Well Hyatt Regency has a chat with Monks! Walk to Bhagsunag Waterfalls seems to be interesting too. And they have such various cuisines like Himachali, Tibetan with a variety of momo. It is superb.
This accommodation is classy and a place I would love to stay next time I am in Dharamshala. The views are awesome, the food thali great and the pine forests are so soothing to the eye.
How cool to have a view of the Himalayas right from the hotel! As someone who loves luxury accommodations, The Hyatt Dharamshala is my kind of place. I especially love the idea of the Shanti Villa to plan a multi-generational vacation or girlfriends trip. Along those lines, it would be amazing to have a group together to speak with one of the monks! Plus, with the home cinema, heated pool, and spa, it looks like there would be plenty to do on-site. Thanks for this great recommendation. I will definitely keep The Hyatt Dharamshala in mind for my next trip.
Looks great. Nice to read.
