Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Can you guess how long it would have taken to complete this pot made of camel leather with Usta art on it? What would be its cost?

This souvenir of Bikaner took one and half months to complete it. Gold leaves have been used to make these designs. It costs Rs.25,000 only! Is the cost justified for the effort put in? What is your opinion?

  • I would not mind one for myself. Glad you managed to meet the artist behind this art. It is good to know that they still exist and all we can do is encourage this art before it dies.

  • It is a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork. The bottle is absolutely beautiful!
There is really no true price you can put on such a thing of beauty.
    Thank you for sharing!
