Yellow Hibiscus in My Balcony Garden

Hibiscus are one of the easiest plants to grow in balcony gardens. You can grow hibiscus plants in pots. They crave for very little attention. Regular water is a must though. Slight dryness in soil can lead to buds falling off even before they bloom. Once you master that you will have the plant blooming for you everyday.

Yellow Hibiscus in My Balcony Garden

A couple of weeks back I had three purple water lilies adding beauty and romance to my little balcony garden. Yesterday there were three yellow hibiscus in my balcony garden. Three bright yellow ones, with deep red centers, set my heart dancing to a self made tune. What a beautiful return for the very less time I spend with these plants!

I got the plant from nursery three months back. There were several colors for sale but somehow this yellow variety won my heart. The thin stick like plant had just 1 single bloom, I wasn’t sure if it would make it.

But with regular water and bit of manure the plant thrived. Soon the leaves turned thick and dark green. Quite often I get single blooms, sometimes two blooms together. And when this thin skinny plant, but with healthy leaves, gave three together my happiness knew no limits.

Hawaiian Pua Aloalo

Yellow Hibiscus is the Hawaii state flower and is known as the pua aloalo in the Hawaiian language. It was in 1988 the yellow hibiscus which is native to the islands was selected to represent Hawaii. Mine is a variation of Hawaiian pua aloalo which is pure yellow with no red color in the center. Native Hawaiian yellow hibiscus is extremely rare. Very few remain in the wild. Today it is considered an endangered species.

Ah! Nevertheless I do have a bit of Hawaii in my own balcony garden!

Here are some Hibiscus Flowers of Different Colors and Varieties

Red hibiscus offered in prayer. It lay over the sculpted form of feet which is a symbolic representation of feet of deity residing in the temple. You can see such sculpted form of feet impressions at the entrance of almost all temples.

Flowers are the medium through which the frequencies of deities get activated, the more devotion with which you offer them the stronger the frequency will be! That is just a belief! I think a clean heart has more power to connect.
