About the book (From Its Cover)
The Guardian Angels is the epic and tumultuous story of two star-crossed lovers who weren’t just soul-mates but were also each other’s protectors.
The fates of Adi Mehta and Radha Deodhar are deeply entwined when within days of their first rendezvous they save each other’s lives. Despite their vast sociopolitical differences, they are drawn to an uncertain future fraught with contrasting ambitions, personas and ideologies.
. . . he is the son of a billionaire, she is the daughter of a socialist.
. . . he is quiet and unassuming, she is a firebrand and spirited.
However, the unexplained phenomena ties them forever – whenever they are in peril, they are each other’s only saviors. Over the following two decades Adi and Radha live through hope and despair, joy and sadness, and try to decipher their relationship. As the truth of their bond is revealed, they must confront the true nature of love, and ultimately, their destinies.
The Guardian Angels – A Book Review
‘The Guardian Angels’ written by Rohit Gore is a beautifully woven love story. It isn’t exactly a romantic story but one of deep understanding between two souls who save each other’s lives more than once.
The story starts with flash back to a childhood incident which brought the two main characters, Adi Mehta and Radha Deodhar, close to each other. They bond well from then and continue to remain so till the end in spite of all ups and downs in life. They grow up to two individuals very different from each other, while the boy is rich but not spoilt and more concerned about his ‘family business’; the girl a daughter of socialist has ‘improvement of society’ as her first concern. She is inspired by Sudha Bapat, a social service worker.
The characters Nicole and Alfie Vedant induce little bit of jealousy and possessiveness between Adi and Radha, those incidents highlight the feelings they have for each other.
Through out the story Adi tries to woo Radha away from her work, till he finally accepts her the way she is.
Radha’s father suffers from an auto immune disease, a rare one called Huntington. The threat of inheriting this disease is 50% and that threat looms over Radha’s fate. Did she take decisions because of this uncertainty? Did she actually want to run away from that imminent future of suffering and slipping into oblivion by keeping herself busy?
The writing by the author is so well paced and firm with no loose ends, it keeps the reader hooked to the book. Most part of the story is given in the form of Radha’s journal entries and emails exchanged between them. The book lacks humor. But I guess with this kind of story line it is difficult to induce humor, or may be he could have. Nevertheless I enjoyed reading the book.
I love the idea that an IT specialist is writing romance stories. You do make the book sound enticing.
