Faces of India – 144 Terracotta Temple Owner
The lady of De family, she assists her family in looking after the “Depara Temple”. She was like a local guide to the temple explaining to us whatever she knew about the temple. She said, “I have seen many photographers come and take photographs of the temple. What do you do with those pictures? What is so great about this temple?”
Probably the importance vanishes when you see something like this everyday.
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
Nice Pic 🙂 . I wonder what you replied to her though.
Interesting project
Great portrait!
Ghar ki murgi dal barabar is all that comes to my mind.
So intriguing that she asked about the photographs clicked of her, what you told her?
So true, Indrani!
We value what we don't get to see…
True, the grass on the other side is always greener….
interesting face with quite an interesting question…
A simple yet complicated question asked by her. Amader state-e (WB) erokom onek mondir achhe jegulo khub awbohelay poRe achhe :-(..Nobody pays any heed for their development or renovation. It's so nice of you that you're taking some effort to make these at least known to some people.
Even a little character has its own importance 🙂 🙂 Great you are Indrani to capture her 🙂
A picture worth a thousand words. Your pics say it all.
i think She is Too angry 🙂
A curious capture 🙂
As «Louis» has commented previously, this is a fine series as it gives a very human perspective to your travels. Your "Faces of India" series is something «Louis» looks forward to.
Beautiful picture. An interesting character.
Greetings.
An interesting perspective – to me that temple is incredible, like nothing I've ever seen. I wonder what her eyes have seen?
I think it's a natural human tendency to take something for granted when we are near it every day. It really doesn't matter how special that something is.
Another great portrait. I enjoy this series so much.
Interesting that she wanted to know what you do with your photos. I think you are right that we don't appreciate the places and things close to us…until we show them to others and they tell us they are special. 😉
That is so true, that she doesn't see the beauty anymore, or else not all time time. I remember a guide telling us when we visited a craftsmen's village and took so many photos of things other than them and their trade, that they wondered what it was we saw….
Lovely portrait. It's true, you kind of go blind to the beauty of things you see every day.
Nice picture 🙂
Lovely portrait there Indrani.
Familiarity robs the charm of even great pieces of art.Little wonder she posed that question to you.
You come up with common pictures in an uncommon way!!Good job,Indrani
I agree, what an interesting question. A lovely portrait Indrani.
Nice capture. Her face seems to be asking the question.
Interesting question by her!
Nice photo.
Have a great weekend.
I found the "What do you do with these pictures?" question fascinating. It made me think of the times I have visited places and spent so much time behind my camera. It was my way of seeing closely. It really wasn't about the photos, in a way.
There are lots of questions in those eyes and that face!! Great shot as always, Indrani, you do find such a wonderful variety of people to photograph! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your weekend!!
i wonder if you were the first to ask to take her photo. 🙂
