Faces of India – 40 Young Temple Pujari from Mahabalipuram
Faces of India,
Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. A young boy doing the job of his father as a purohit(priest) of a temple in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.
This series is fascinating. The painting on his body is very interesting.
Love this series.
Thank you so much for the info Ramakrishnan.
He must be a student of the Veda Pathashala there. Such students do have the amazing "shine of wisdom" in their eyes. They follow a rigorous routine, help out in the temple rituals,at other times attend Vedic classes in the pathashala & in leisure time do normal activities boys their age do-carry mobiles, listen to music, play cricket, browse websites etc.
He's doing a nice work 🙂 Nice picture Indrani! 🙂
even though its a lovely picture but I am just wondering what all he will be doing .. no personal thingsto do ..
Bikram's
Just a wonderful portrait!!
A beautiful face and peaceful.
You capture stories in those wonderful faces. I think Cloudia is right.. your photos would make a fine book.
This portrait rises above to Real Art!
This is the germ of a photo book.
You inspire me to do the same as I mentioned to you-
