Faces of India – 123 Vendor selling Indian Flags
Making a living selling flags at traffic signals. A very common sight during Independence Day and Republic Day. A huge flag can cost up to Rs. 500, but then people bargain and it depends on your skills.
Faces of India
a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…
Some sell flags for bread and some sell the nation for golden bread .. what a pity … the commoner looks charged up after all its the mark of our identity !!
Nice Capture Indrani 🙂
Sounds like a hard way to make a living. I hope people do stop to buy!
Thanks so much for the comments friends. 🙂
Hilary, I didn't buy any from this seller, I already had one.
Hi Harsha, I am not not able to recollect correctly, I vaguely remember it to be before a flyover.
Nice Click..BTW which signal is this in Bangalore?
Good shot. Did you buy one?
Great capture..:-)
He must be proud of his country. Great shot!'

I love the vibrant colors of the Indian fag. The bright hues of the cars and the vendors stark white shirt make this a really lively image!
Very handsome face ! Would be even nicer without the moustache, I don't like beards, lol !
Lovely capture Indrani as always.Even I saw the autowalas with flags on their autos flying on I-day..I didn't have a camera then but it made an amazing frame too
Real snap. The plight of the common man. Well captured.
A belated Happy Independence Day to you.
Nice Indrani to give some thought to the sellers, I too had clicked couple of them selling the flags on ID eve

I like this photo. I hope he was able to sell a good number of flags.
you have a nice vision for this faces of india series .. will you publish it someday ?
I love this series. The portraits are always so good.
Very expressive
The faces we see on traffic signals selling various things do make interesting faces of India. Beautiful capture. 🙂
Brilliant image Indrani.
I try not to bargain with those people, who sell for their living. When we spend 100s of bucks shopping at shopping malls, its really pitty to bargain with these people.
A nice capture!! Wonderful theme… faces of India 🙂
GOOD SHOT AGAIN…..NICE DONE.
GREETINGS, JOOP
Its becoming common nowadays
Wonderful capture.
Nice shot from the street! I used to tie a similar flag at our gateway during Republic and Independence Day
These vendors selling small things at traffic signals expose themselves to risk and rejection. But I admire them for doing a honest work for a living
Danke liebe Indrani für diesen Einblick in die Gesichter Indiens…
Umarmung und Grüsse aus der Schweiz, verbunden mir einem herzlichen Dankeschön für all Deine Kommentare zu meinen Werken

We have people here in the states making a living the same way — particularly these days. Another wonderful capture in a superb series. Enjoy your weekend, Indrani!
