Vivo V5, Among the Best in Market as Camera Phone

In the race for best selfie phone Vivo V5 camera is clearly emerging as the winner. The year 2016 has seen the launch of several brands of smartphones. Naming a few here are: Soni Experia C4, Samsung Galaxy A7, HTC Desire Eye, OPPO F1 Plus, ASUS Zenphone Selfie, iPhone 7, more and last but not the least is Vivo V5.

Most of these have been rated among the best selfie smartphones. But do they have good front camera features? I am sure all customers checking out to buy any of these would have for sure checked the selfie mode.

Why is Selfie so desirable?

Before I write further on Vivo V5, a brief on why selfie is so desirable. Well, there are several reasons attributed to this trait in humans who are so obsessed with selfies. And each reason more terrifying than the other.

For example good number of selfie obsessed men post selfies to make their ex partners jealous! Can you believe that? Then there are some who regularly post selfies to update the world about their whereabouts in social media. If kept within limits it is fine but to take a selfie with a fast approaching train is asking for sure death.

What I have understood is people generally want to have a control on how the world looks at them. And that control is possible if one has a good smartphone with good front camera features.

How good is the front camera of a smartphone?” This is the foremost feature a smartphone gets judged on. Walk into any store selling mobiles and you will for sure see a customer checking out the selfie captured. The other features however good they may be takes a back seat as selection criteria.

How does Vivo V5 fit the bill as good selfie phone?

Vivo’s latest selfie smartphone beats most of the recently launched smartphones with its 20 Mega Pixel front camera.

The 20 MP camera is a Sony make. Its image sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5P Lens. It comes with amazing features like gender recognition. Add to that the feature of moon light flash which improves the images taken in low or artificial light and create a more professional looking image. It is the first ever 20 Mega Pixel front camera phone for a good moonlight selfie. The front selfie camera can record 2592 x 1944 pixel resolution videos at 30 FPS.

  • Why do most brands focus on selfie? hahha that’s just how I have noticed recently. Anyhow, my friend bought a new phone and that its brand if Vivo I am just not sure if it is V5 but sure it comes with high-quality pixels. What’s the most interesting part of the gadget is that it roughly costs USD120 I guess if converted to dollars. I am planning to buy a new phone for myself this year and I sure am considering Vivo too.

  • I myself have won an Oppo F1S, dubbed as a selfie camera. I’m not a huge fan of selfies prior to it. But I do know that the best photos contain people in them. No doubt, there will be more selfie cameras in the future!

  • I liked the selfie feature of it from your review, Indrani! seems amazing!

  • I was there at the launch here in the Philippines and I gotta say that definitely, this is one of the best phones for a selfie. It’s pretty awesome and the specs and RAM are great!

  • I’m not the type who likes to take a selfie. But when I’m with my family, I like having photos with them. So, a reliable phone camera is also important to me. It helps me document our bonding times. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this phone.

  • Woah! Another great phone to explore. I’m surveying all the different phones, just in time for me to check this out!

  • Looks like iphone. Android with great features and surely more affordable too. and yes, great front camera on mobile is so important nowadays right. People take selfie on daily basis, probably hourly now.

  • I want a phone that can take good images, has a good battery life and is blog friendly. Do you have a phone in mind which solves these problems? Plus, it should have a good screen size and its touch pad must be friendly and big enough for my finger tips. Typically, I use my computer for blogging.

  • Have been read up lots of user reviews recently on this V5 model. People enjoy esp it’s selfie mode! Am so tempted to buy it though…hmm…still undecided whether should I. Will keep your post as reference again perhaps early next year I can make up my mind 😉 cheers, SiennyLovesDrawing

  • Heard a lot of good feedback about this phone. Thanks for sharing with us about the details.

  • First time to read about Vivo phone. Thanks for the review. I might be looking for one here as I am contemplating which brand will I choose. Great post. Thanks a lot.

This model looks like a cousin of iPhone! But more affordable 🙂

  • This is the first time I’ve heard of Vivo V5 and I’m not even sure if it’s available in my country. Looking at the specs, I say it’s not bad at all. It’s sleek indeed, the phone looks a little bit like an iPhone. I converted and it’s only around 13k in Philippine peso. That is very cheap!

This is really nice for taking high quality photos. Perfect for my food photography.

  • Yeap, alternative choice and focus more on camera goodness are very important for me! Will totally recommend this to everyone.

  • This Vivo V5 looks so iPhone-ish. I do look for phones that have good selfie cameras, too.

  • wow….. i am using the x5…. i think I will wait for the next model…

  • Oh I definitely know people that would appreciate a good selfie camera on their phones! Will definitely recommend this one!

  • Don’t judge me but I am really dumb with smartphones and their features. But I like the pink color of this phone 🙂 I am going to read out the features to my husband and try convince him to get me one. I like your detailed review though. Camera is one important part of a phone for travelers and it’s camera seems just fine for me.

  • I love that you really looked at the front camera! Every time I upgrade my phone I hope so much that the front camera is going to be better than I assume it will. Every time I am disappointed. Whilst I do find the front camera of my current phone a huge upgrade (iPhone 7+) I still find myself longer for higher quality. This is the time of the selfie after all!

I bet this one would keep my nieces happy!

  • I have seen some reviews of Vivo. I think this is a good entry level mobile phone for those who want to have decent camera. I know many companies are now marketing selfie, but really? Any smartphone can do selfie today. At the end of the day, cost still matters. Like it or not, the lens are expensive parts of the camera, and how good the photos can be taken depends not only on the lens itself, but also the graphics processor (plus the image processor) and the software.

  • A selfie-friendly camera- how cute! Hahaha. I have to admit, I’m a little too old to still be taking selfies, so I’m definitely not their target market. But it just so happens that my 18 year old niece is badgering her parents for a new phone, so will recommend this. The price is pretty reasonable too, and the colors are youthful but classy. Definitely worth considering. 🙂

  • I heard a lot about vivo. Good features and reasonable price. That pink one look cool.

  • Awesome, Grat to read about Vivo V5 phone.
    Thanks for sharing 🙂
