The Blue of Sky and Sea
Science has a different answer though. The water surface of sea would have functioned as a plain mirror reflecting the blue sky had its surface been smooth, but that is not the case we know. The surface is wavy and full of ripples. The deep blue color is because the quantity of blue light radiated is more; other wavelengths of lights are all absorbed more and more because of increasing depths. I learned this with my 13 year old and I saw new beauty in this picture. It was taken in Portovenere, Italy.
