Stay Simple Brindavan Resort, Mysore on a Budget

Last weekend was spent holidaying in Mysore. Our holiday was made memorable by the staff at Stay Simple Brindavan Resort, Mysore. Just as the name suggests, the resort is simple, neat, clean, comfortable and the staff friendly and courteous. The location of Stay Simple Brindavan Resort is great in a scenic background! It is situated less than a kilometer away from the entrance to the world famous Brindavan Gardens in Krishna Raja Sagar Dam. Far enough from the maddening traffic yet close enough to nature and many sight seeing places. You can’t miss this property as you drive towards the dam. There are lush green fields on both sides. A small creek flows just beside this which provided me with ample photo opportunity.

I think it is a black cormorant. The pic taken at the creek flowing next to resort.

Stay Simple is India’s first value for money chain of leisure accommodation for the budget conscious holiday-maker looking for a real break. They cater to more than just romantic getaways for two, family vacations and group holidays. They package unique holidays, organize corporate off-site events, provide training venues and even offer themselves up as employee incentives through holiday vouchers.

This Brindavan resort has a modest accommodation of 30 rooms with combination of AC and non-AC facilities. The rooms are not lavishly furnished but definitely decently attired; very spacious, with basic furniture, clean and big bathroom. The swimming pool facilities are being given the finishing touches. A neat, well manicured garden, the whole set up is pleasing to eye. I found the biggest asset of this resort is their staff; they are friendly and dedicated lot right from the manager to the gardener who was constantly at his work.

The best way to a tourist’s heart is through their stomachs! Chef Madhusudhan seems to know this mantra well. He dished out some awesome finger licking preparations. And me being a Bengali, he took special care to include a dish of fish. I was all happy smiles seeing the presentation. There are no local eateries immediately around, however the multi-cuisine restaurant seems to be well equipped to dish out your orders.

Bhapa machh (steamed fish) with Mediterranean masal(curry).

During our single day stay there we could visit 3 sight seeing place. One was the Ranganathittu bird sanctuary 5kms from the resort, then Venugopal Swami Temple just 8kms from the resort and The Brindavan Gardens, walking distance if you love walking.

I have been to Mysore several times before but could never make it to the musical fountain show (7PM to 8PM) because the hotels we stayed were in the city and transiting back at night never worked out. So the visits were limited to day visit to Brindavan Gardens. Thanks to the location of this resort, this time my daughter could enjoy the musical fountain show!

Holidays are made memorable not just by the sights we see but also by the experience of stay and food we have there. This was one such holiday of mine; short and sweet. I stayed only for a day and I would have loved to stay longer. May be again some time in future!

Thank you Stay Simple Brindavan for pampering me!
