Visit to Sinquerim Fort and Beach Goa; for Beach Sports

There is almost no crowd in Sinquerim Fort compared to what we get to see at the Aguada Fort. There is decent parking space and not many shacks. Water sports facilities are there and we saw just one counter catering to the public here.

Sinquerim Fort

Sinquerim Fort  is a little lesser known fort among the forts of Goa located in North Goa. It was constructed in the year 1612 and is the lower extension of the better known fort, the Aguada Fort. The fort consists of a bastion and a section of fortified wall on both sides. Sinquerim Fort served as a safe berth for Portuguese ships.

Sinquerim Fort is a popular for Bollywood movie shootings and as honeymoon destination.

Sinquerim Beach

Sinquerim beach is less rough and lot cleaner too. The fort bisects the shoreline into two and probably because of this extension the waves loose the intensity by the time they hit the beach.  Because of this low intensity of the waves tourists feel encouraged to to have beach bath without bothering to change to beach wear.

I saw a father encouraging his little son to feel the waves of Arabian Sea and the child delightfully throwing his arms as if swimming.

Water sports is good here, at least one doesn’t have to wait for long because of less crowds compared to Baga beach and Candolim beach.

Festival in Sinquerim Beach

Goa has plenty of festivals celebrated throughout the year. You can witness the famous Sunburn Music Festival here in December.

Water Sports in Beach

Most common water sport here is the boat rides. Almost always you will get a boat for this simple thrill. The guides make it dramatic by showing you the coastline around Sinquerim and hidden coves that were used by smugglers. If you are lucky you may spot a dolphin too.

Banana boat rides, a sly version of simple boat rides too are available in this beach. They topple the boat right in the Arabian Sea; I wouldn’t want to try that, would you?

Water scooters are available for rent here. You have the full controls or a guide can take you pillion. Riding solo would be more thrill and fun filled.

Para sailing is available too. They are done during sunset. But a word of caution: Never try them during monsoons.
