Mozart Statue

Salzburg is the city of the ‘music master’ himself; yes, it is the City of Mozart. This is the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Austria’s most famous composer. He lived here, composed music here, therefore many memorabilia around.

The Mozart square, very close to Salzburg cathedral has a huge statue of the master himself. Draped in classic clothing, the bronze statue is the creation of Ludwig von Schwanthaler. The statue was unveiled in 1842 in the presence of his two sons. What a proud moment it must have been for them! Tourists pause to have a good look at the statue, admiring his contributions in the field of music.

I really like your second photo of the statue with the sky in the background. Of course the first photo is good because it sows the setting in the square.

  21. Carver says:

I meant to say Mozart's statue. I made it sound like Mozart was still alive. I guess he is in that although he died too young his music goes on and on.

  22. Kim, USA says:

I like Mozart for me he is brilliant! Too bad he died young. Thanks for sharing!

Hmmm… yes, Mozart probably is more famous than Haydn, Schubert or Strauss. Lucky you to be in Salzburg on a blue sky day!
