Kufri Souvenir – Himachal Cap

The caps of Himachal Pradesh are the most celebrated handicraft item of Himachal Pradesh. The extreme cold climate of these regions has made people weave different kinds of warm clothing, including shawls and caps. These caps are woven with wool and are ideal protective head gear for the people of these cold regions. Only the front half portion has the embroidered design. Visit Himachal during festivals and you will see an ocean of colors and designs. It was easy for me to decide which souvenir is to be carried back home!

Choosing a good design was tricky because all the designs were good. The caps are small, soft and very easy on pocket. Don’t forget to pick one when you are there.  I picked up one for Rs.175 and I see some online marketing sites selling them at Rs.500+!!!

Very beautiful cap Indrani. Somehow it looks more like weaving than embroidery to me. I used to weave similar braids and our Latvian patterns are similar too, even my name comes from the ancient Sanskrit.
