Hotel Dona Sofia in Braga Portugal, a Hotel Review

Our night halt at Braga was at Hotel Dona Sofia. It is situated near the historic city center of Braga and I expected it to be some old kind of building. The pics of the Hotel indicated it was a new one and it was no different in real, though I wouldn’t rate it as modern and trendy. They definitely have tried to keep pace with some modern room fittings.

The city has so many one ways; we went in circles at a couple of places till GPS got us right at Hotel Dona Sofia’s doorstep. The rooms seemed ready to welcome us to its warmth. The staff was helpful. They gave us directions to some nearby restaurants for dinner, all within walking distance. Given the short length of time we had in the city they suggested that we don’t miss the Braga Cathedral.

Hotel Dona Sofia in Braga – Room

The bookings were done for family room. Even with two double beds there was enough space to move around. The furnishings were not colorful, but simple and plain. I particularly like the little window with frilled curtains.

Other Facilities

They have six to seven parking slots, free. We saved some euros that way. Parking elsewhere in the city center would mean paying according to the rates there. Wifi is free and the connectivity is good. Fax/Photocopying, Banquet Facilities, Laundry and Ironing Service available.

Breakfast in the room, though we preferred taking it in their restaurant, Room Service and 24-Hour Front Desk. Baggage Storage, helpful for those who want to tour the city and then check out. Newspapers, Safe, Pet Friendly. Airport Shuttle and Shuttle Service for extra fee.

Location of Hotel Dona Sofia in Braga

The location of Hotel Dona Sofia suited very well to our requirements. Located in historic city centre of Braga, the train stations are close by but Braga Airport in Palmeira is 40km away.
