Faces of India – 254 Sadhu in Kankalitala Temple

Faces of India,

Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…

One of those men for my faces of India series who has renounced everything and dedicated himself to God, a sadhu! It amazes me each time I see some of the sadhus display their passion or talent to collect some donations. They live for themselves totally oblivious to the developments taking place around them. Go to a temple and you surely will find at least one sadhu seeking alms.

I met this sadhu near Kankalitala Temple in Bolpur, West Bengal. Both sadhu and me spent some time lost in our own worlds; he immersed in his devotion for God and me admiring his talent in playing the flute so melodiously.
