Faces of India – 253 Friendly Local from Guptipara

Last week I had presented a sweet old flower vendor for this faces of India series. Remember how she made me pay her for taking her pic. I was reminded of the woman, a friendly local, I met in Guptipara, West Bengal. She wanted to be photographed. She very frankly asked me take a photograph of her just like how I took of her friend washing clothes. Meet her in my blog today.

She said “since you are a woman I could approach you.” And she giggled. I too joined her laughter. She insisted on seeing the pic and seemed content about how the pic turned out. “Had you stayed here I would have made a copy of this” she said when we were parting. Now when I look at her picture only the sweet memories of that meet come up.

Faces of India,

Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011.
