Faces of India – 237

Faces of India,

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. See more here

Another saffron man from my collection of faces of India. He was seated among a group of sadhus in front of Kankalitala Temple in Bolpur, West Bengal. Like the other sadhus whom I have met, this sadhu too wasn’t keen to speak to me. If you drop something into their bowls they don’t mind the number of pictures you take. I don’t know how much they earn through out the day, but they continue to sit there in front of the temple day after day. The saffron colored clothing, symbolizes their sannyāsa (renunciation).
