Faces of India – 235

Faces of India,

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. See more here

A pujari of a temple in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. He reads a lot of scriptures he said but not keen in other studies. We were the only tourists or pilgrims around and he had ample time for us. So he chanted mantras and offered prayers especially for us to our delight. He gave us a brief history of the temple too, he did seem very eager to talk which is very unusual and in the end happily posed for me. One of those faces in my collection which radiates happiness.
