Faces of India – 137

Faces of India,

Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here

He looked tired to me, but he cheered up the moment I took the camera to take his picture. After he saw his pic in the camera he asked if I was going to put in newspapers. When I told him it was for computer he seemed slightly disappointed, “Oh! Then I will not be able to see.” Many times I have got this same response and I feel so helpless at that moment. Common man too want newspaper coverage.

  • Thanks a lot for the comments friends. 🙂

Athena and Preethi, if I get the opportunity I will definitely get your children framed… for my FOI series. 🙂

  • Posing for the camera and to be famous is every man/woman's dream and so nothing wrong with him being so camera friendly. He surely has an infectious smile and the happiness in his fame is visible in his eyes.Nice click and as usual keep them coming. Would you be interested in clicking the pic of two monkeys my two brats are bugging me?

    • Lovely picture in drain. Ha ha.. athenas take 🙂 my little brat won't stand still but still I think indrani would find it easier to take a picture of her as she is quite patient and can take pictures of fast moving objects 🙂

  • What an expression! Great capture!

  • I don't know if I am talking oddly enough but I had a discussion with my friend about how a common man in India wants be popular and not to learn. This thirst to gain popularity keeps us terbulent in minds. This what I wished to share. Pardon me if it doesn't suit the context.

The disappointment of the old man is so obvious… Common man, manages to fill his stomach somehow. From where would he get a Computer :D…. stark realities…

  • A bright smile in the midst of the adversities of life!

  • This is a beautiful portrait.

  • It's a face worth being put up here … a face of India, indeed.

  • What a great effort by you .. this photograph is simple and beautiful 🙂

  • Indrani, Print version still has it's own importance…I could feel it as I have worked as a news contributor..cheers!!

You can tell them that internet has more audience including foreigners too!
I too have faced this question once and I told the above. The guy replied me never to go for newspapers.. Only internet frm now even if he doesnt see! You can try it! But people differ, so do their reactions !
    (Humble suggestions)

Great picture BTW (This sentence is getting cliched these days for your posts)

  • I think what they want is a souvenir for themselves which they could probably show to the people they know. 🙂 I sometimes go back to them to give them a copy of their picture 😀 but once a person told me to take pictures of his friends after I gave him, his copy 😉

  • I wish he could know the fact that so many people have seen his photo online. Great photography, Indrani.
