Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Faces of India Sigandur Karnataka

Beggars are a common sight in front of temples, churches and mosques in India. You can find more than half of total population of beggars here. I sometimes wonder what makes the physically and mentally fit people to beg. She seemed so fine to me. But then I shelled out some money for she willingly posed for me.

I spotted her in front of Chowdeshwari Temple, Sigandur in north Karnataka.

  • Beggars has become I problem where I live. Every time I go to the grocery store they have at least one walking around in the parking lot. I never understood why they just get government support instead of begging.

  • Didn’t realize she’s a beggar. The faces of the people are incredible. Great shot!

  • Sounds very interesting I have to keep up with your blog to read about your travels.

  • This is very particular blog post! We are travel bloggers too, so we are interested in reading these kind of articles. We think that this is an original way to convey a message 🙂

  • I like your whole cycle. People’s faces are incredible. Beautifull and telling. Not only eyes – all the features. You just have to stop for a moment.

  • True, she looks perfectly fit, can’t believe she is a beggar. I thought she is a crafts seller.

  • Well said. Nice portrait.
